Out of the mouths of babes....

Hello all, we had good news in our family yesterday regarding my sister's test results. You can check out her blog to get more details...(the link to Mary Austin's blog is on this site) but her brain MRI was normal and her neck MRI showed two herniated discs and two others that have arthritic changes. Yeah, it is no fun to have two herniated discs but that is better than the alternative of something being wrong in her brain. So for now she has some physical therapy to do but hopefully that will alleviate the numbness and tingling in her arms. Great news!!! Thank you Lord!!!

On to other family news....The funniest thing happened this afternoon. When I decided to start this blog my goal was to keep a record of our daily lives for the kids to be able to look back on someday. I thought hey, it's free and fun so why not? I don't have the extra time or energy to scrapbook, actually I could find the time if I wanted to, but it is not free, and I have no real desire to do it. Anyhooo...this is a story that Scott did not think was funny today....but someday may think is hysterical.

Several weeks ago, before the election...the kids (Scott specifically, the others were sitting at the table for the discussion)asked me what the difference is between Republicans and Democrats....not being overly politically savvy...I based my answer on an email my mom sent me. I told Scott.... Imagine that you are in high school and you are working SOOO hard to keep straight 'A's because you know that in order to be able to go to college that you have to have top notch grades...(this is true by the way)...you don't have the time to play sports or anything else because you are working so hard to keep your grades up... now imagine Jack (Scott's real-life friend) is having a great time in school, playing sports, having fun, going to football games, etc. His grades are not bad, but he gets 'B's and a few 'C's, .... Republicans would tell you Good job Scott, you worked hard and have EARNED a scholarship to any school you apply to. The Democrats would say everyone deserves to be treated equally so we are going to give some of your 'A's to Jack and give you some of his 'B's and 'C's.... Scott just looked at me dumbfounded....I said "what do you think about that?" He said "that wouldn't be fair..." EXACTLY.....

So on to the story from today.... this cracks me up... yesterday I worked. By the time I got home it was well after 9pm. I went straight to bed after sticking my head in to everyone's rooms to say goodnight. Well, progress reports came home. This morning I signed Scott's without really looking at it. After closer inspection...this afternoon, I realized that he has a 'B' average in Science. I asked him what was going on....why he had a 'B', etc. This is my child who always gets all 'A's (so far anyway), after the usual Hmms and I don't know's, I told him that I was surprised that he has a 'B' and doesn't know why.... he looked at me and said "It doesn't surprise me....I guess I'll have to get used to 'B's . I asked why and he said "because Barack Obama is the president now".

It took me a minute to figure out what he was talking about. I asked him what in the world he was talking about and he said "Well, a democrat is the president now and I guess they're already starting to give me someone else's 'B's." Now I ask you.... how do you get mad at that? I just cracked up... Poppy was there too and laughed so hard that Scott got very upset and ran out of the room. Sorry buddy, we weren't laughing at you, and we didn't mean to hurt your feelings...(yes we did apologize in person). ....Good one Scott! Work tomorrow.....Please pray for me, my back is starting to REALLY hurt and I don't have time available to be able to take off of work if it gets really bad.....Stay tuned...

That is the BEST! Smart kid I tell you. Funny:) Oh, I am glad you wrote this because he needs to read this when he is older one day. haha!

That is good news on your sis. I have been praying over here. Now we will pray for a complete healing and therapy will help.

Speaking of healing??? You take care of yourself. I know the awful time you had with your back in the past! Make those aides or nursing students help you:)
